Pakistan’s objection on India’s Kishan Ganga and Ratli Hydro project accepted for hearing

Pakistan’s objection to India’s Kishan Ganga and Ratli Hydro projects was accepted for hearing. Against India’s water aggression, Pakistan has got great success at the international forum and Pakistan’s objection to India’s Kishanganga and Ratli hydro project has been accepted for hearing. The World Bank will hand over the design of both projects to the arbitration court on November 21. A delegation consisting of legal and water experts from Pakistan will leave for Washington today, the delegation will include the Secretary of Water Resources, Indus Water Commissioner and experts, while the Indian delegation will also participate in the handover ceremony of design and objection documents. Pakistan approached the World Bank in 2016 over the controversial design, and the World Bank set up an arbitral tribunal in October 2021 after 5 years. India proposed to resolve the issue jointly, but Pakistan rejected the proposal based on India’s track record. It should be noted that India is constructing the 330 megawatt Kishanganka Dam on the Jhelum River. In this dam, India will store 7 lakh cubic meters of water, while Pakistan is determined to store more than 100,000 cubic meters of water in the dam. There is no room for Pakistan has also objected to the width of the dam’s spillways. On the other hand, India is also building the 850 MW Ratli Dam on the Chenab River, and wants to store 1.4 million cubic meters of water in this dam, while Pakistan’s position here is that the storage capacity is 8.8 million cubic meters. Don’t be too much.
