ISLAMABAD: NAB Chairman Aftab Sultan has resigned from his post.
According to sources, Chairman NAB Aftab Sultan was under intense pressure for a month. Aftab Sultan was appointed as NAB Chairman on 21 July 2022.
Aftab Sultan took charge of the post of Chairman NAB on July 25, 2022.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif accepted the resignation of Chairman NAB Aftab Sultan due to personal reasons.
The Prime Minister praised Aftab Sultan for his honesty and conscientiousness in performing his duties. According to the press wing of the Prime Minister’s House, the Prime Minister accepted the resignation of Chairman NAB Aftab Sultan on his insistence.
It should be noted that the case related to the amendments in the NAB rules is also under hearing in the Supreme Court. Apart from this, according to the new NAB law, which case has to be sent where, Aftab Sultan had set duties in different bureaus according to the new law.
Besides, on the request of the Islamabad High Court Bar to challenge the NAB Amendment Act, the Islamabad High Court had ordered that the larger bench will hear all the NAB cases pending in the court after the NAB amendments.
