The request for appointment of Army Chief according to seniority was declared inadmissible
The Lahore High Court declared the application filed for the appointment of the Army Chief according to seniority as inadmissible. Justice Faisal Zaman Khan of Lahore High Court heard the application of local woman lawyer Najma Ahmed as an objection petition. The registrar’s office had objected that the petitioner was not the affected party, when the petition came up for hearing with the objection, the court upheld the objection of the high court office and assured that the matter could be referred to the Supreme Court. Petitioner’s lawyer Tariq Aziz said that the army chief is retiring from his post and the new army should be appointed on the basis of seniority. The court remarked that the issue of seniority of the Army Chief is very important, the petitioner should approach the Supreme Court. The court dismissed the application as inadmissible.
