Adelaide: In the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup, England defeated India by 10 wickets in a one-sided contest. In the match played in Adelaide, English captain Jos Buttler won the toss and decided to field first. Batting first, the Indian team scored 159 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Chasing the target, the English openers played aggressively, with opener Alex Hales and skipper Jos Buttler providing a 170-run opening, both scoring 86 and 80 respectively. Alex Hales scored 86 off 47 balls with 7 sixes and 4 fours while Jos Buttler scored 80 runs off 49 balls with 3 sixes and 9 fours. Indian bowlers could not get a single wicket in the match. Earlier, India had set a target of 169 runs to England while playing first, captain Rohit Sharma scored 27, KL Rahul 5, Surya Kumar Yadav scored 14 while Virat Kohli played a responsible game and scored 50 and Hardik Pandya. He played an innings of 52 runs while playing an aggressive game.
On behalf of England, Chris Woakes, Adil Rashid and Chris Jordan could get one wicket each.
Earlier, in the first semi-final of the T20 World Cup, Pakistan defeated New Zealand by 7 wickets and qualified for the final of the event.
