The Islamabad High Court declared the registration of a case over the controversial tweet as exceeding the jurisdiction of the FIA. In April, Islamabad High Court issued a verdict in the case of social media campaign for government change. Justice Babar Sattar accepted the petition of the citizen and dismissed the case filed against the citizen over the controversial tweets. The court termed the registration of a case over the controversial tweet as exceeding the powers of the FIA and said that the FIA made a mockery of the state by registering the case. The purpose of the FIR was to impose illegal censorship on expression. The judgment further stated that mere tweeting of any trend does not constitute an offence. In the tweeter’s own words, no offense as long as there is nothing wrong. The court said that the organizations can take extra-legal action for writing in the controversial tweet about a certain trend. It is a tragedy for the FIA to make a criminal case on such a tweet and reinforce the suspicions in the public mind. A Twitter user posted Vigo and spoke of extrajudicial enforced disappearances.
