Dost Muhammad Mazari on two-day physical remand referred to anti-corruption

LAHORE: The local court of Lahore sent former Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly Dost Mohammad Mazari to anti-corruption custody on two-day physical remand. The anti-corruption authorities produced Dost Muhammad Mazari before the duty magistrate in District Kachhari. The court had reserved its decision on the request to remand Dost Muhammad Mazari after the arguments of the lawyers were completed. Former Deputy Speaker Dost Mohammad Mazari was arrested from Lahore last night and is accused of encroaching on government land. The anti-corruption lawyer sought the physical remand of the former deputy speaker and said that the allegation of land grabbing from Dost Muhammad Mazari should be investigated, so physical remand should be given, while the former deputy speaker’s lawyer opposed the remand. Talking to the media, Dost Muhammad Mazari described his arrest as a political act of revenge. Former Deputy Speaker Dost Muhammad Mazari expressed his determination that he will stand by the Constitution. The court directed that Dost Mohammad Mazari be produced again on November 1 after his physical remand ends.
